The shoulder tendons may become sensitive to reaching and repeated loading.

Symptoms commonly associated with this pattern
- Pain lifting the arm
- Ache at the outer upper arm
- Pain when lying on that side
Common triggers
- Overhead work
- Throwing
- Sudden training increase
What changes the next step
Major trauma, rapid worsening, inability to use the area normally, fever or feeling seriously unwell, unexplained swelling, and new neurological symptoms should move the decision away from self-guided stretching.
